Calcium is an important constituent of our bones and teeth. It is also needed by the blood to perform various important functions including proper blood circulation and breakdown of larger molecules to release energy. Calcium along with other minerals helps in improving body’s capability of fighting against diseases and hence is very important for the development of a healthy immune system.

Everyone should be aware of calcium health because deficiency of this important mineral causes many degenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease and osteoporosis. In addition to this, calcium deficiency is also associated with prolonged depression, pre-menstrual syndrome in women, kidney stones and high cholesterol levels.

Calcium health demands that we should eat calcium-rich foods on a regular basis. These include milk, calcium-fortified cereals, green leafy vegetables, fish and seafood. People who are calcium deficient should consume calcium tablets daily to bring up the level of calcium in their blood.

Women above the age of 40 or 50 are strongly advised to take calcium supplements to control their calcium deficiency as they need 1500 mg of this mineral daily.

If you pay attention to your calcium health today, it’s going to pay off hugely in the long run in terms of your health and well-being. Drink lots of milk, eat a healthy and balanced diet, and make a habit of exercising everyday.

Vitamin D and phosphorus help in proper absorption of calcium. In order to ensure good calcium health, you should also include multi-vitamin tablets to your diet. Alternatively, try to look for calcium supplements that contain certain other vitamins and minerals in addition to calcium which not only assist in calcium absorption but also provide some benefits of their own.

Calcium is naturally found in our bones and teeth. However, as we grow up the level of calcium starts decreasing and when the blood does not receive adequate amounts of this mineral from food, it starts extracting it from the bones. People who are not used to exercising regularly and have a small bone structure are at high risk of developing bone disease in old age.

Similarly, post-menopausal women are at high risk of developing degenerative diseases because of sudden calcium deficiency. Nutritional supplements help in controlling this deficiency to a large extent, and therefore doctors advise consuming these tablets on a regular basis.

Don’t neglect calcium deficiency for long periods of time if you want to live a healthy, fruitful life.

We are often told by health specialists to introduce calcium-rich foods to our diet if we want to develop strong bones and teeth. Calcium not only helps in developing a strong skeletal system, but it also helps in protecting it from various diseases including degenerative disease. Calcium sources are broadly categorized as animal and plant sources.

Green leafy vegetables like broccoli, mustard greens, and Brussels are rich plant sources of calcium. One of the widely-known animal calcium sources is milk. Doctors normally advise to intake more vegetables than dairy products because in addition to useful nutrients, they also contain some contaminants, cholesterol and fat.

These substances might be dangerous for obese people and those who do not like to exercise on a regular basis. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid animal sources of calcium as much as you can. Red meat, eggs and other dairy products are rich in protein and may cause calcium loss in your body.

Another source of obtaining calcium is to consume supplements rich in coral calcium. Coral calcium is essentially a salt mainly composed of calcium carbonate and has many health benefits associated with it.

If you have adequate amounts of calcium in your body you will be at a reduced risk of developing osteoporosis. Since calcium sources in food are hard to find and consume, doctors now suggest taking calcium-rich supplements. These are easy to consume and provide all the benefits of developing strong bones, and improving posture and strength. These products also contain other minerals and vitamins, for example vitamin D and K2 for the enhancement of your bone health. They are easily available online and most of the time these products don’t require a doctor’s prescription as they have already been approved by health specialists.

Some rich and easily digestible calcium sources are orange juice, spinach, oatmeal, beans, sweet potato, sesame seeds and raisins. In addition to increasing your intake of calcium you also need to reduce your consumption of protein-rich food, especially the ones that come from animal sources. Proteins tend to increase calcium loss through urine just like sodium. That’s why health experts tell us to reduce our intake of salt as much as we can.

Exercise is mandatory for proper absorption of calcium in bones. Don’t let proteins and other substances cause calcium loss in your body. If you are not used to doing physical exercise a lot, then take a walk or simply indulge yourself in household chores. Don’t sit idle for long periods of time. Vitamin D helps in controlling the amount of calcium in our body, therefore introduce vitamin D supplements to your diet after consulting a physician.

By: John Gibb

Calcium is important for bone health and prevents many degenerative diseases in old age. Deficiency of calcium may cause weakening of bones, depression, PMS in women, osteoporosis or bone disease and many other complications.

On the other hand, if calcium intake is increased through a combination of proper diet and nutritional supplements, it helps in proper growth and development of bones, teeth, hair, nails, and the immune system.

Early signs of calcium deficiency include frequent muscle cramps, brittle nails, dry skin and frequent eye twitching. If not treated immediately, calcium deficiency can also cause prolonged depression, infections, problems with blood clotting and frequent back pain. Another common symptom that occurs as a result of calcium deficiency is yellowing of teeth.

Calcium is required by many internal functions of the body to work properly. If not absorbed by the blood, it either gets out through urine or gets accumulated in skin, nails and even tissues. As a result of this unnecessary accumulation, calcium level in bones and teeth decreases and causes complications.

Some other less common signs of calcium deficiency are hypertension, formation of kidney stones, miscarriages, sleeplessness, and unusual menstrual cramps etc. A blood test to measure the level of calcium in it must be performed to prescribe some medicines in case of low and dangerously high levels of calcium in the body.

If you have been diagnosed with extremely low calcium level in blood, immediately start consuming calcium-rich nutritional supplements especially the ones made with coral calcium as it is easier to absorb and helps in the prevention of most of the above-mentioned symptoms and signs of calcium deficiency.

Other than calcium-rich tablets, calcium can be obtained from milk, green leafy vegetables and fish. Calcium citrate, calcium carbonate, and calcium acetate are three of the most widely-used compounds in the making of various calcium supplements. Out of these, calcium carbonate is its least soluble form but provides up to 40% of elementary calcium which can be easily absorbed by the blood.

Coral calcium obtained from fossilized coral reefs in the Okinawa island of Japan has been found to be the most beneficial of these salts. It is essentially calcium carbonate but also contains little quantities of other nutrients like magnesium, sodium and potassium as well. It is easy to absorb and reduces acidity in stomach. Many good-quality calcium supplements are now making use of coral calcium because of its purity and long-term health benefits.

By: John Gibb

We all know that whether we are old, young, or newborn, we all need certain amount of calcium. Research has shown calcium is very important to our body. Calcium is essential for healthy bones and teeth.

We all have heard from our parents, doctors and even TV commercials that calcium is important to us. What they have not told us though is that when do we get enough calcium for our bones, as a matter of fact, our bones need calcium, but to be literally robbed of it? That is scary!

What is calcium?

This is a type of mineral that helps in our muscle and nerves developments and to function properly. It’s mandatory that we have it. We don’t get to choose. When we don’t have enough, and most of us don’t, it will be taken from our bones. That part is actually the normal process.

What get us into trouble?

It’s what happens next that gets us in trouble. The calcium we take in is supposed to go replace that calcium that was just taken out of our bones. So if we do not take enough in, we literally lose bone. That’s why we should take the calcium vitamin supplement if we’re not able to eat enough calcium rich foods every day.

How we lose calcium?

We also lose this mineral every day in skin cells that fall off by sweating and it’s in our urine. This happens day in, day out. So what we have got to do is put it back every day.
Those who take supplements probably take the vitamin supplement calcium more than anything else because we all lose it and it’s not as easy to get it back as it is say, vitamin C. No one should be deficient in vitamin C.

What are the foods that have calcium?

There are a lot of foods that contain calcium. We know that milk does. Low-fat milk and whole milk have calcium. Cheese and dairy products have calcium. So do green, leafy vegetables. The problem is as adults we need between 1000-1300 mg a day.

How much are we losing?

According to studies, we’re losing some 400-500 mg a day so we can’t afford to skip one day. If we make the effort, we can eat enough calcium rich foods but if we don’t do that, we need to take the vitamin supplement calcium stuff.

We have seen how a little old lady with osteoporosis bent over during the TV commercial, and telling us to drink milk, eat cheese and take the vitamin supplement calcium.

This makes sense why the poor little old lady looks like that when you realize that our bodies will not take no for an answer. Our bodies know exactly where to go to get the calcium it needs and that is exactly what it does by robbing our bones. It’s up to us to put it back.

However, it is comical in a pitiful way that when we come home and found that we had been robbed and the police called us and said, “Great, I have good news for you, we found your stuff!”

How long would it take us to say, “Alright!” “I’ll be right down to get it.” Then we would go get our stuff and take it home and put it back. Right?

What have been robbed is just calcium vitamin health products and we have to replaced it as fast as it is robbing day in, day out.

Besides knowing who robbed us of our calcium and why is it important to take calcium vitamin supplements, having said that, this should give you another choice of health supplements thus should enable your health to get a good booster. Before you are going to consume any calcium health products, you need to first consult your physician.

However, many people sometimes tend to take calcium vitamin supplements for granted as that are many types of good calcium vitamin supplements, but having the right knowledge to use the right type of vitamin supplements to the max for various kinds of chronic of illnesses is crucial.

Therefore, without a proper understanding of using various kinds of health supplements to treat various anxiety and anger management system, there will not be much free lifestyle to hope for.

Apply this effective tips together with an thorough understanding of vitamin health food is important so that you enjoy your life once again.

By: Eddy K Elgin

Green leafy vegetables are not only excellent sources of calcium but they also provide adequate amounts of magnesium. Spinach is one of the vegetables that can be considered a good source of calcium and magnesium. Almonds, beans and other nuts are also rich sources of these two nutrients and come under the vegetarian diet.

Milk and dairy products are good non-vegetarian sources of calcium but they do not provide adequate amounts of magnesium. Children under the age of 10 require up to 120 mg of magnesium and 800 mg of calcium. ¼ cup of almonds, soybean, peanuts and cashews provide 30 – 100 mg of magnesium.

To balance your daily intake of minerals eat non-fat foods. Avoid saturated fat, a protein-rich diet coming from animal sources, alcoholic and soft drinks, too much sugar and tobacco. Any good source of calcium and magnesium is effective only if both these minerals are readily absorbed by the bloodstream. Furthermore, to prevent calcium loss through urine you need to increase your daily intake of vitamin D and phosphorus.

Many nutritional supplements available out there contain calcium and magnesium together along with many other vitamins and minerals. These supplements or tablets can also be considered a good source of calcium and magnesium.
