There are a number of health care insurance providers around you, and the number is still rising. That is why, you, as the primary consumer of such products, are given a vast array of offers, products and rates for medical insurance. Because the economic situation around the world is very upsetting, it would be practical to insure your health, and of course, purchase an affordable medical insurance policy.

Almost all governments around the world require employees to be covered by health care insurance policies. Most of these governments also offer subsidies to their constituents who apply for health insurances. Just like any other forms of insurances, medical insurances will also require the applicant to pay premiums, which can be in monthly, quarterly or annual terms, depending on the applicant’s spending power.

Securing Affordable Health Care Insurance Is A Must

More people feel that securing affordable health care insurance is a must nowadays, but alas, they also find the task very ardent, tedious and sometimes stressful. The wide options in the market can sometimes lead to further pressure. Everyone wants to save on medical insurance premiums so the ability to find low-cost medical insurance deal would be a great advantage for anyone.

Finding an affordable health care insurance does not require great talents. The name of the game would be reliability, resourcefulness and an innate skill to shop and compare prices. Patience would be required. The following is an easy and simple guideline on how you, the budget-conscious buyer of medical care insurance, could successfully secure and buy a low-cost health care insurance policy.

•	Talk to or ask your trusted health insurance agent or broker. People have their own jobs, and they become experts in their job fields. That is why agents are to be considered experts in medical care insurance policies, it is their job.

•	Visit the nearest health insurance provider’s office and ask for their rates or quotes. Just make sure that you would get premium rates or quotes from two or more insurers. This way, you could be able to compare prices and pick the cheapest offering.

•	Visit medical insurance companies’ Websites. This way, you would be able to save on transportation costs and your time would not be wasted. Through online inquiries, you could also easily compare health insurance rates and practically easily select the low-cost health insurance policy you have been looking for.

•	Check on government health offices and seek advice on discounts and subsidies provided by the government for citizens’ health insurances. Governments’ primary goal is to oversee and protect constituents’ welfare so it follows that they have flexible health insurances to people.

You could also seek recommendations, referrals and advice from your friends and peers about their experiences in buying affordable health care insurance policies. Learn from their mistakes and follow their successful practices. Low-cost health insurances are, indeed, must-have nowadays. Health is wealth, but sometimes the inevitable comes. It is better to be prepared for possibilities than be left helpless and empty-handed when health situations come.

By: Johny J

It is worrisome to know that affordable health insurance is not regarded as a standard monthly expense any more but rather as a financial luxury. Many people around the world are living without the comfort of affordable health insurance simply because medical insurance has become too expensive to afford.

Previously the health insurance industry did not make a lot of effort to obtain a strong Internet presence. However, being affected by the down spiraling economic as well, they started changing that fact recently. Obviously, this resulted in some comfortable advantages for the consumer, who can with ease obtain affordable medical insurance information.

Finding the right type of medical insurance can now be done online and an array of valuable information is at your disposal. Especially regarding the different kinds of coverage that are available on the market.

After locating some of the cheaper medical insurance companies, you are able to obtain some online quotations. It is important that you pay attention in providing the same information on all quotation requests to be sure of an accurate comparison between the companies.

Few people know that there is a difference between a medical care discount plan and real medical care insurance. Regretfully, the health care insurance industry is completely protected from swindlers and it has been recorded that many people bought a restricted medical discounted plan instead of proper affordable health insurance.

Some people feel more comfortable making use of a broker due to their own lack of information or knowledge. If you resort to this option, insist on receiving a comprehensive comparison between a variety of companies and to pay attention to the good and the bad traits of the policy.

In your quest of finding the best and most affordable medical insurance online, you first have to decide who will be insured by the policy. Will this policy need to cover only you, your spouse as well, or do you need comprehensive coverage for your whole family? Previous health conditions and the ages of all the relevant people will be requested, so keep them at hand when conducting your online search.

By: Clarissa Winegarten

Students are typically more prone to go without health care coverage than those who are older because of their perceived invincibility. However, students often place themselves and their family’s financial security in jeopardy because of this “devil may care” attitude.

Health insurance for students is often quite cheap as one of the largest determining factors in pricing insurance rates is age. Everything else being equal, the older an individual is the more they will pay in monthly premiums. Cost should not be a deterrent for students in finding adequate health insurance coverage. Even on a tight budget there are low cost options for students to investigate.

Here are a few quick steps to take in searching for cheap student health insurance:

1.	Look for a temporary health insurance policy. If a job offer with benefits is on the horizon then a temporary health insurance policy may be a good route until the job is realized. Temporary health care coverage is usually major medical only and does not come with copays and other extras – this will help to keep the monthly premiums low.

2.	Check with the student’s college or university to see if they offer any health care plans or discounts. If the school offers a health plan then view the plan with a critical eye and be sure to compare its benefits and coverage to a few other comparable plans from reputable insurance companies.

3.	Compare individual health insurance quotes from at least 3 different health insurance companies. Competition among insurance companies is the key to finding the lowest rates. (Watch out for fly by night insurance companies that you have never heard of and also steer clear of discount health plans which are not true insurance and are tremendously risky – leaving you unprotected for most of the cost of a large medical bill).

By: Joel Ohman

Making a wise decision on which Health Insurance Policy to buy may seem like a confusing task, but if you consider just these five most important items you and your agent will both find that you are a Savvy Buyer! These items are your KEYS to picking a policy that’s right for you:

1. The Insurance Company’s Rating

Ask your agent for the Company’s A.M. Best rating. If the company is highly rated at this national rating registry, then the company will have literature showing their rating with an explanation of what it means. Choose only companies that have an A or A+ rating.

2. The Insurance Company’s Record of Complaints at your State Board of Insurance

Every large company will have some complaints. Avoid companies that have a high number of unresolved complaints. Ask your agent for the phone number for your State Board of Insurance. If he will not give it to you, this is a warning signal! You can also look up the number in any directory of your state’s agencies. No matter what your agent says, CALL your State Board of Insurance and ask them for the record on any company you are considering.

3. The Limits Shown On Your Health Insurance Quote

Check your quote to see if you are comfortable with the benefit levels. You can usually change several levels to fit your needs and budget. For example, a higher deductible will cost less each month. Also, many plans give you a choice to split your medical bills with the Insurance Company either 50/50 or 80/20 (with them paying 80%). Then they will have an amount (your stop loss) where they will take over at paying 100% of your covered bills for the remainder of the year. These deductibles and other levels start over every year in most plans. Some plans, though, have a “per cause” deductible. Such a deductible means that you will be responsible for bills up to that deductible for each accident or illness. Make sure you are aware of this distinction, so you can choose a plan that’s right for YOU!

4. The Limits Revealed Within The Policy

Ask your agent for a sample policy, and then check two sections: The Benefits and The Limitations and Exclusions. Many of your benefits are actually limited in the Benefits section. For example, diagnostic testing or outpatient treatment may be severely limited. These days, you could have a serious disease such as cancer, and never go into the hospital for it. You could rack up thousands of dollars in medical bills for the diagnostic and follow-up lab tests and MRIs, and then have surgery, chemo, or radiation therapy all on an outpatient basis.

Other items that may be limited are your hospital room rate and intensive care. Your hospital room rate should be at least average semi-private and your intensive care benefit should NOT be tied to your room rate, but should, instead, be covered as whatever is an average ICU rate for the area of the hospital, also. Some policies limit the ICU benefit to 3 times the regular room rate, when ICU can cost you 10 or 20 times the room rate each day. A short hospital stay with a limit like this in your policy can cost you literally thousands of dollars. A long hospital stay with a limit like this in your policy could drive you into bankruptcy. Even if your policy says it takes over at 100% after $5,000 of covered medical bills, the important term here is “covered” medical bills. If the policy only pays three times the room rate for ICU, then the rest of the ICU bill is considered an “uncovered” charge!

Look out for these types of limits!

Also, be sure to check the Pre-Existing Conditions Limitation if you already have any medical conditions, and ask your agent if the Company will be excluding your conditions permanently on your policy.

5. Pay the Insurance Company, Not the Agent, & Follow Up!

And lastly, make your check payable to the Insurance Company, and then follow up to make sure it was received. When you get your policy, check the Schedule of Benefits to verify you got the coverage you ordered, and then check to see if any special Amendments were added to your policy to exclude any of your conditions. If an Amendment exists, these conditions will always be excluded from this policy, even after the Pre-Existing Conditions Limitation expires.

Following these five tips will help you choose a health insurance policy which will protect you from catastrophic medical bills. You may think, “Isn’t that what any health insurance policy is for?” Yes, that is the reason for buying any health insurance policy, but, unfortunately, many policies fall short of actually providing this protection! Be sure to take the time to choose wisely when it comes to your health insurance!

By: Scott Morris

Fact: the cost of health insurance is continuing to rise. Fact: it’s getting more difficult for individuals to get coverage, making many of them feel vulnerable. False: other people think that they don’t need health insurance at all, citing they never had any major medical problems. Fact: believing you’ve never had medical problems doesn’t mean you won’t have them in the future.

Our bodies don’t get younger. We may delay the aging process, but the inevitable will happen. Our bodies will deteriorate and we will need health care. With today’s rising medical care cost, it is imperative to get medical insurance while we are active and able to pay for it. There are quite a lot of ways to get cheaper or more affordable insurance for yourself as well as for your family.

Remember that health insurance is a protection against future health problems. Our environment is getting worse and you’ll never know when a virus can afflict you with a life threatening illness. When you’re covered by health insurance, you can be sure that you will have something to lean on in times of medical need.

Where does one start in acquiring cheap insurance? You can look into Medicaid. Every state will be able to offer you Medicaid or its equivalent. Although the requirements may vary from state to state, you may discover that you’re qualified to get Medicaid coverage. It may just surprise to know how many people think that they couldn’t possibly qualify for this service but end up getting covered. So, find out with your local Division of Family Services and ask how you can qualify.

Another option for getting cheap health plans is by searching the internet. There are quite a lot of companies out there that offer health care plans with prices you can afford. If you do diligent research by asking questions through online forms or personal contact, you’ll be able find the best health care plan for you and your family. Always aim for an affordable coverage that you really need. Don’t get a plan that has bells and whistles, so to speak, that you won’t even be able to apply to yourself and your family.

Affordable health insurance is just around the corner. What’s important is that you begin the steps to get a plan now so your future is taken care of.

By: Dean Mapa

With the ever-increasing cost of health care, procedures and medicines, it’s no wonder that the cost of health insurance has also dramatically risen over the past few years. But as that’s happened, insurance companies and the government have seen the potential negative impact of families and individuals without insurance. There are some things you can do if you don’t have health insurance.

A federal mandate requires that all 50 states have a health insurance program for children. Each state was allowed to create a plan tailored to the needs of children in that state, but there are some things that are the same from one state to the next. The first is eligibility.

Government funded health programs typically have very stringent income guidelines. These health insurance programs have income requirements, but the criteria allow higher income than most programs.

Another criteria for participation is that the child isn’t covered by any other health insurance. That differs from most programs in a very important way. Most programs say that if the family has access to insurance, they aren’t eligible. That means that parents who have employer-based insurance don’t qualify. But many of the employer-based plans are too expensive, and workers sometimes simply can’t afford the premiums. This program is designed to help fill that gap.

These programs don’t cover families – only children. But there are some great benefits for those who qualify. Some states offer mental health benefits, transportation to and from appointments and dental/vision benefits.

If your children don’t qualify for this program, or if you’re in the market for individual health insurance for an adult or private insurance for a family, you have some options. Even though insurance is typically very expensive, you can take some steps to control costs.

You can eliminate extras such as vision and dental coverage, and increase deductibles to lower the cost of your insurance premiums. Look for policies that don’t include maternity benefits and cancer plans as more affordable general health insurance plans. Basic coverage will likely be less expensive than an all-inclusive health insurance program.

Finally, shop before you make a decision. Even if you’re offered employer-based insurance, you might find a better deal elsewhere (depending on the amount of employer participation). Look to professional groups for discounts and advice.

By: Jeff Lakie

Health insurance leads like leads in any other insurance line are easy to come by especially online. But it is the quality of such prospects that matter – only if a high percentage of them lead to insurance sales can they be considered as high quality. So it is important for an agent like you to understand how to land good leads. Other wise you will only be spending money, time and effort for nothing.

There are a number of qualifications a person should have to be able to get a insurance plan. So getting insurance leads is a tougher call than the rest. You should be well versed in explaining the products and plans thoroughly as leads are likely to ask more questions to understand their eligibility clearly. Health insurance line offers possibilities for group insurance as there are several plans in this category that can be very attractive to potential clients that leads. Group health insurance leads are highly profitable and it is worth while for agents to look for deals for groups. For this the best form of leads acquisition can be through calling on small businesses that do not give their employees any health insurance.

Referrals have always been and are likely to always be a fool proof method to generate leads. If your existing customer is happy with your support he is likely to spread a good word about you in his/ her circles and this circle keeps growing like this until it is a strong network of your customers. Insurance leads that come from such recommended prospects almost always end in a winning deal. So always keeping this as your primary focus helps you to grow strong especially in the long run. Buying leads is the latest method that is being used successfully by many an agent in the line.

It has been evidenced that more than three fourth of the populace typically looks up the internet for insurance buying. They come to gather details and review various plans and products. These are the hot prospects that are likely to give you business. To get you such strong health insurance leads companies exist that provide lead delivery services. An agent can become really successful by just finding one good source of health insurance leads.

Even a few leads that come in periodically could be enough when they all culminate in an individual or group insurance deal. Other agents operating in your insurance line could help you identify some good lead delivery services. By testing them out over a period of time and by asking pertinent questions about the leads that are provided you should be able to easily judge the effectiveness of the lead from a company. You should get correct lead details, get them on real time in email etc according to your choice and discounts for bulk lead buys. You could also choose exclusive or shared leads.

By: Lank Andrew

As graduates across the country are preparing for new adventures and responsibilities, the importance of affordable health insurance is becoming a reality. In a new poll released by United Health Group, Inc, over 2/3 of young adults in the US know they need affordable medical insurance, but over half of them say they don’t have the information they need to choose the right type of coverage to meet their needs.

1,000 young adults were polled and 67% of them haven’t made any plans for medical insurance. While these 18 – 21 year olds know they need insurance coverage, they aren’t clear about the coverage they have through their parents and don’t even know when that coverage will end.

Young adults are in the largest and fastest growing group of the 46 million uninsured people in the US. This alarmingly large group of Americans, along with the 25 million underinsured, is facing incredible risk by not having appropriate coverage in the case of a medical need.

When you need affordable health insurance and you cannot get coverage through your employer, it can be confusing how to even begin the process of finding coverage on your own.

Determine your insurance needs: Before you can find the most affordable medical insurance, you need to understand how insurance policies work. When it comes to cost, there are two things to understand -the deductible and the co-pay. Nearly all insurance plans have both a deductible and co-pay you are responsible to pay.

The deductible is the amount of medical expenses you have to pay out of pocket before your insurance coverage kicks in. The co-pay is the portion of each individual charge you must pay, in addition to the insurance company’s portion. For example, if you have a $500 deductible, you are responsible to pay the first $500 of medical expenses per year, before your insurance company pays anything. With the co-pay, you must pay a percentage of each charge, often at the time of your service.

To help keep your health insurance affordable, you have options how you pay these expenses. If you are in reasonably good health, choose a lower deductible and higher co-payment. If however, you go to the doctor fairly often, you pay be better off with lower co-payments, but a higher deductible. Once your annual deductible is reached, you will have less expense through out the year. For the most affordable health insurance premium, choose both higher deductibles and higher co-payments. This will at least spread your costs out over a length of time.

You can compare rates and plans for medical insurance online. This way you can look at several different types of policies from different companies and take your time deciding the best option for your medical insurance needs.

It is very important for young adults to have a good understanding of the type of insurance they need. With the large number of health insurance companies, as well as the variety in policies and coverage, the only way to find the most affordable health care coverage is to do some research and compare your options. Most importantly, however, is to avoid going with non health insurance at all so you don’t wind up with huge expenses you cannot afford to pay.

By: Tom Carolan

You want health coverage, but want to know what your options are? You know your options, but want to know the difference among the various plans? If you answered “yes” to either of this questions, the six health plan definitions below will be of significant help as you decide upon health care alternatives.

1. COBRA: COBRA stands for the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. It’s a policy that gives you the option to continue your current healthcare plan (i.e. the health insurance plan provided by your former employer). Here’s the catch: With COBRA, you now pay for 100% of the cost! You have 60 days after your departure to “elect” COBRA coverage. COBRA coverage lasts for up to 18 months.

2. Fee for Service: A health insurance plan where you pay a fixed percentage of the cost for any service received. As an example, you pay 25% of the cost for any doctor’s visit, hospital stay, or prescription, and the insurance company pays the remaining 75%. Fee for service health insurance plans have largely been replaced by managed care plans in the United States. Fee for service health insurance is also referred to as indemnity health insurance plans.

3. High-Risk Pools: Health insurance provided by states that cover individuals who have been denied health insurance because of a pre-existing medical condition. High-risk pools generally take the form of an HMO or PPO, and premiums are capped at a certain level. Over 30 states offer high risk pools. High-risk pools can be tricky, because many states offering these programs use different names to describe them.

4. Managed Care: Managed care “plans” (also referred to as “organizations,” insurance,” or “companies”) are the most common type of health coverage in the United States. There are actually three health plan definitions included within Managed Care: Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), and Point of Service (POS) plans. Managed care plans employ the concept of a network, which refers to a group of doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. When insured under a managed care plan you’ll be referred to as a “member” of the plan. As a member, you are entitled to seek medical service with doctors and facilities that are part of the managed care network. If you require care outside of the network, you will pay a premium for this service. In addition, managed care companies may require prior approval for certain types of medical care (e.g. seeing a specialist or undergoing expensive procedures). In doing so, these groups are able to “manage” the care that patients receive, thereby reducing overall costs. Collectively, managed care plans currently account for the vast majority of private health insurance in the United States.
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO): A type of managed care insurance plan. Services are provided by doctors who are employed by, or “contracted with,” the HMO. In contrast with other managed care plans, HMOs require that you seek a referral from a primary care physician prior to seeing a specialist. In addition, HMOs do not provide insurance coverage for you to see out-of-network doctors, meaning that if you need to see a doctor who is not contracted with the HMO, you will have to pay 100% of the cost. The HMO network of doctors will likely be large enough to have a doctor that meets your needs. Because of these limitations, HMOs are typically the most affordable healthcare option. Point of Service (POS): A type of managed care insurance plan that combines some the features of an HMO and a PPO. A point of service plan enables you to see out-of-network doctors and receive some insurance coverage. Think of a point of service plan as having more flexibility than an HMO, but less than a PPO. Preferred Provider Organization (PPO): A type of managed care insurance plan offering the most flexibility. As a member of a PPO, you can see in-network and out-of-network doctors, and may seek the care of a specialist without the referral of a primary care physician.
5. Self Insurance: Going without health insurance. Technically, self insurance refers to setting aside an appropriate amount of money to pay for both expected and unexpected medical care.

6. Temporary Health Insurance: Short-term health insurance plans that last anywhere from one month to twelve months in duration. Temporary health insurance plans offer limited healthcare coverage relative to traditional health insurance plans, and the insurance companies that provide these policies have the option to prevent you from renewing the plan at expiration. Because of their limited scope and unfavorable renewal provisions, temporary plans are typically priced at a discount compared to traditional healthcare plans. Temporary health insurance plans are also referred to as “short-term policies.”

By: Carl Stevens
